Rebecca Sears, PhD, MDiv, LPC

Rebecca Sears is a distinguished psychotherapist, educator, and Imago Relationship Therapist with over four decades of experience in counseling, teaching, and community leadership. She currently serves as Senior Clinical Instructor at Imago Relationships International and Associate Professor at Daybreak University.

Dr. Sears earned her PhD from Daybreak University in 2023 and a Master of Divinity in Pastoral Psychotherapy from Boston University School of Theology in 1986. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Russian History from the University of Georgia.

Throughout her career, Dr. Sears has provided therapy and supervision to couples, families, and individuals, as well as leading retreats, workshops, and congregational consultations. She has been a Getting the Love You Want workshop presenter and trainer since 1997 and has delivered clinical trainings in Imago Relationship Therapy globally, including in Russia, Estonia, Romania, the Netherlands, South Africa, Namibia, and Canada.

Dr. Sears has received numerous honors for her clinical and community contributions, including being named a Washingtonian Top Marriage Therapist (2009, 2012), the Harville Hendrix Award for Global Development (2015), and recognition from Imago Relationships International for community building and clinical excellence.

Her previous leadership roles include Clinical Director of the Imago Center DC (1998–2012) and Executive Director of Pastoral Counseling and Consultation Centers of Greater Washington (1997–2002). She also served as a psychotherapist at PC&CC and the Imago Center DC from 1986 to 2022.

Rebecca’s work integrates deep clinical expertise, spiritual insight, and a commitment to transforming relationships and fostering compassionate communities. She is a licensed professional counselor in Washington, DC, a fellow of the American Association of Pastoral Counselors, and an ordained minister with the Church of the Saviour, Washington, DC.
